Chris & Rachel Wassenaar Enjoy Their New Home

Chris & Rachel  enjoying thier new home in Gretna, NE.  They moved in just in time for our visit for Thanksgiving.  They have been having a lot of snow this winter and Chris has been busy shoveling the new large driveway.   Right now, Chris is busy with the tax season.

They stay very busy raising their two kids Hannah (almost 5) and Caden (2).  Chris stays busy with his CPA work and are both active in their local church.  Chris is learning the role of an elder.  Chris also enjoys playing soccer as he is able to.

Rachel still stays active in playing her flute for church.  She also serves as the chairwoman for WIC (Women in Church).

Please pray for Hannah as she recovers from a broken elbow.

Wasenaars Expecting # 2!

We are happy to report that Rachel is expecting child # 2 in a few months.   Mother and baby are doing fine.   They don't know if it is a boy or girl, so stay tuned.   The Wassenaar family continues to serve the Lord in their church, enjoy their family and keep busy at work and home.   They recently landscaped their yard.   Chris's work as a CPA continues to go well.  Rachel continues to play flute at church.   However, earlier this summer Rachel broke her foot on a bad sidewalk crack.  The foot is healing well and she has the boot off.   This was a BIG deal to Hannah.   So is wearing big girl pants!!!

Chris becomes a deacon in their church

Chris has just been elected a deacon in their local church.  After a time of examination and vote by the church, Chris was installed as a deacon on Sunday, August 29, 2004 at Grace Reformed Church in Omaha, NE.  http://www.gracereformed.net

What is a deacon like?  Read I Timothy 3.

1 Timothy 3

Overseers and Deacons

1Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer, he desires a noble task. 2Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. 5(If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?) 6He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. 7He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap.
8Deacons, likewise, are to be men worthy of respect, sincere, not indulging in much wine, and not pursuing dishonest gain. 9They must keep hold of the deep truths of the faith with a clear conscience. 10They must first be tested; and then if there is nothing against them, let them serve as deacons.
11In the same way, their wives are to be women worthy of respect, not malicious talkers but temperate and trustworthy in everything.
12A deacon must be the husband of but one wife and must manage his children and his household well. 13Those who have served well gain an excellent standing and great assurance in their faith in Christ Jesus.   © Copyright 1973, 1978, 1984 by International Bible Society
